Ten Goals for 2014

  1. Move into new apartment with my lover! Accomplish this with as little spending and as much ease as possible.
  2. Be really financially responsible and spend as little as possible so I can pay off even more of my loans this year, get them down to $51,000 by January 1, 2015.
  3. Grow even farther into my job, being an even more competent and productive employee.
  4. Get better at cultivating local friends and community. Go to MeetUps and game nights, hang out in the sun, play music on Cambridge Common, go on long walks around the city.
  5. Finish reading Oliver Twist, A Passage to India, Whitman: Poetry and Prose, Le Morte d’Arthur, The Complete Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway, and Huckleberry Finn. Read The End of Your World by Adyashanti, The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts, Buddha by Karen Armstrong, How To Live - A Life of Montaigne by Sarah Bakewell, and The Tibetan Book of the Dead.
  6. Write 5 or 6 stories
  7. Be even healthier (more water, dammit, and less sugar). Run/stretch/yoga/exercise 4x a week.
  8. Continue expanding and deepening my Zen practice: meditate 3 or 4x a week and go to zendo 1x a week.
  9. Be ever more patient with and kind and compassionate to myself.
  10. Give more and more back to the world, as much as I possibly can.
